Versions of Web Pages

A very interesting Magnolia feature is Versioning. Each time you activate a page, Magnolia will create a version of this page (a copy of the Web page) in its version repository.

Restore a Version

Versions of a page Restoring a previous version of a currently activated page is a pretty simple task:

  • Goto the Website workspace.
  • Right-click on the page you want to restore a version from.
  • Select "Versions" from the context menu
You will see a new window showing all available versions of this page. The most current version is the one which is also visible on the public instance.

Right-click on the version you are interested in. The contextual menu you can select to options:
  • Show : will open a new window and display the selected version of this page.
  • Restore : will replace the current version of this page with the one you have selected. Keep in mind although that this restores the page's content only in Magnolia, you will still have to activate it to make it visible on your public website. Also remember that this only restores the content of your page. If the templates or layout have been modified in between these versions, you might not get the results you were expecting.
