Managing content
Add content to your page
Now that we have created a new page and we also decided how the content should be displayed by assigning it a template, we can start adding content.
Double click on the icon left to the "mypage" name. Your new page will be opened in a new browser window.
Green bars
The New button on the New bar lets you add a new Paragraph . You will also see an Edit button on the Edit bar . This means that the paragraph has already been defined and you can "only" edit the content.
When clicking on the "new" button, Magnolia will let you choose between various types of paragraphs, depending on the template and the available paragraphs. For the sake of our example, let's create a simple "Text & image" paragraph.
The corresponding dialog will then be displayed. You are free to enter the content. You will notice that dialogs have several "tabs"; in the sample "Text & image" paragraph, the first one allows you to enter a title and text, the second lets you upload your image, and the third one as miscelaneous extra options. You will quickly realize that each type of paragraph has a specific set of options, and that allows you to focus on the actual content needed for each of these.
Once you are done, click the "Save" button and the new paragraph will be displayed on your page, at the bottom of the column where you placed it in.
Edit content
Note that after adding the "Text and image" paragraph and saving the content, the new paragraph is displayed at the position the "New" bar was and the "New" bar has moved down. Additionally you get an "Edit bar" just above the new paragraph. The Edit button will open the dialog required to edit the content of the paragraph.
Existing paragraphs can be edited, moved or deleted:
- To edit a paragraph, click the "Edit" button. The corresponding dialog will be displayed.
- To move a paragraph, click the "Move" button. The paragraph will be "glued" to your cursor. By clicking on another paragraph's green bar, you can move the selected paragraph above the selected one. Note that it is currently only possible to move a paragraph within the same column.
- To delete a paragraph, click the "Delete" button. Before the paragraph is deleted permanently, you will be prompted for confirmation. You can not undo this.
Preview the new page
During the process of adding content you may want to see how the page would look like if it where published. You can simulate a "published" page by clicking the "Preview" button on the top left of the page. Clicking the Preview button will remove all the New/Edit bars temporarily and display the page as it would look on a public instance. To come back to the edition mode, click on the small ">>" button in the top left corner.
